Davao City (7 August) -- SM City Davao is joining other private groups and establishments in supporting the Kadayawan sa Dabaw yearly festivities sponsored by the Davao City government. Debby Go, SM Davao mall manager, guesting at the Kapehan sa Dabaw at Greenwich in SM said they had consistently been supporting Davao City not only on investments but events like the Festival of Thanksgiving this August. She said they are more on showcasing Davao's culture and heritage of which several events will be staged at the mall. In fact she said they had lined up SM-led (major) Kadayawan events namely, "Sayaw Saysay Mindanao", a two-day showcase of Mindanao Indigenous Dances on August 17 and 19 at the Entertainment Plaza, "SM CITY's Moda Mindanaw", a fashion designers' works mostly using indigenous materials and designs in coordination with the Department of Tourism on August 17. The "Huni sa Kalibutan", a world music concert featuring Popong Landero on August 18, ABS-CBN Kapamilya Kadayawan Caravan with Christian Bautista Live ! also on August 18, "Sadsad Tugtog", a Kadayawan streetdancing and drums parade at the covered walk/walkways on August 19 and on the same day the Michael Alba Live !, a drums and precessions show. The other supported events to be held at SM City are the Agro-Trade Fair, August 8 to 23, Mindanao Travel and Tours Expo, showcase of Davao and Mindanao destinations featuring Davao's best hotels, resorts, travel agencies and top airlines at the SM Entertainment Plaza, August 10 to 12, Kalingawan sa Kadayawan, Globe Touch Mobile Live Bands and Street Party, August 10-16, 2nd Mayor Rody Duterte Amateur Bozing Tournament, August 12-16, Mindanao Trade Expo, exhibit of Mindanao-made products and crafts, August 14-15, Sangguniang Kabataan "Kadayawan Night Run for Fun", August 17, Philippine Idol Finalists mall tour, August 17, and Christine Reyes and the 10.17 Euphonic and Jammin Grava Live! on August 18. SM City Davao pr officer Tessa Piansay said they've mounted such events primarily as their show of support to the people of Davao and the city government spearheading the festival even as she said those who would miss other similar events outside of the mall can catch them all at the mall. Go also said that as part of their patronage to their clients they will be offering a mallwide sale the most at 50 percent and for those holders of SM Prestige or Advantage cards they can get an additional ten percent discount between 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON of August 17. She said the Kadayawan Sale will be on August 13 to 19 and mall hours on August 17 and 18 will be extended until 12 midnight. |
