During the past eight years, the Mindanao Indigenous Dance Festival has carved distinct impacts and imprints on the culture and dance area not only in Mindanao but as well as in the entire country.

Every year, MIDF has attracted dance masters from around the country to help shape the direction and raise the levels of artistic standards through their active engagement and critique in the festival. It was also consistently participated by various groups from all over Mindanao region.

To continue the tradition, this year’s Kadayawan sa Dabaw is presenting “Sayaw Mindanaw, Isang Pagpupugay,” a homage to Mindanao dance artists and traditions on 15-16 August 2007, 8 AM-5 PM (Dance Forum) and 15-16 August 2007, 5-8 PM (Dance Showcase) both at CAP Auditorium, and on 17 August 2007, 7-9 PM (Pagpupugay) at the NCCC Mall.
“Sayaw Mindanao” will be a three-day dance forum and showcase that will include lecture-demonstrations, dance workshops and public showcase of outstanding dance compositions involving ten Davao-based dance organizations which have been past winners in the MIDF.

On the first two nights, the outstanding works of these Davao-based groups will be featured, while on the third night, a grand finale will unfold as outstanding works will be woven into one unified and multi-disciplinary concert performance.

Established dance tutors and experts will be also be invited to the festival to share their recent works and research finding that will further enhance the multifarious perspective of Philippine Dance. They will be interacting with around 200 choreographers and dance instructors from all over the region.

Don’t fail to watch and attend this culturally enriching experience.
